With the end of the year fast approaching, I wanted to touch base on what to expect for scheduling the prep of your 2025 tax returns.
Timeline
- For those on the Diamond plan, an email will be sent out Monday, November 3 at 12pm EST. This will have links for scheduling your personal tax return, and for scheduling your business tax return(s) [if applicable].
- For those on the Platinum & Gold plans, an email will be sent out Monday, November 17 at 12pm EST.
In General
- Once you click on the scheduling links you will see time slots on Mondays.
- What you’re selecting is your deadline for submitting all of your tax documents by. This is not a meeting.
- In January you’ll be receiving a tax organizer that will help you determine all of the documents you’ll need to submit.
Instructions: Business Tax Returns
- If your business files its own tax return (e.g. form 1065 or 1120-S), the first step will be to schedule your business return(s)
- Schedule with this link
- If your business has multiple shareholders, only one shareholder should book your business return(s). They should then communicate this date to the other shareholders so they can book their personal return (See next section below).
- By the date you select:
- If your business has a QBO file, you’ll simply need to send me an email confirming all accounts have been reconciled & the books are closed.
- If you use a spreadsheet or other tool for that business’s books, simply upload that to me in your portal.
- I will review your documentation the day(s) you selected.
- If everything is there, I will confirm with you and I will finalize your return within14 days.
- If there are any missing documents or information, I will reply with a list. You will have 2 days to provide any missing documents or information.
- I will review within one day of your response.
- If everything is there, I will confirm with you and I will finalize your return within 14 days.
- If there are still missing documents or information, we’ll need to reschedule for a later date, as we’ll now be cutting into someone else’s reserved time.
- If you’re unable to book your preferred date, you should still book the next-best date. There will also be a link where you can fill out a wait list form for your preferred date.
- For all returns scheduled to be completed after the 3/16 deadline, I will automatically file an extension and provide you with estimated payments (if applicable).
Instructions: Personal Tax Return
- The second major step will be scheduling your personal return.
- Schedule with this link
- If you’ve also scheduled a business return, be sure to book this at least 14 days after your business return(s) have been scheduled.
- By the date you have selected you will need to complete your Organizer (see above) & upload all of your tax files in the portal. In January I will send out more instructions on this.
- I will review your documentation on the day you selected.
- If everything is there, I will confirm with you and I will finalize your return within21 days.
- If there are any missing documents or information, I will reply with a list. You will have 2 days to provide any missing documents or information.
- I will review within one day of your response.
- If everything is there, I will confirm with you and I will finalize your return within 21 days.
- If there are still missing documents or information, we’ll need to reschedule for a later date, as we’ll now be cutting into someone else’s reserved time.
- If you’re unable to book your preferred date, you should still book the next-best date. There will also be a link where you can fill out a wait list form for your preferred date.
- For all returns scheduled to be completed after the 4/15 deadline, I will automatically file an extension and provide you with estimated payments (if applicable).
I know that is a lot of info, but my goal is that by investing time now to plan, it will give you a smoother tax season & greater clarity. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask!
Sincerely,
Kyle
